My sweet boy let me snuggle until he fell asleep. He hates snuggling. :(

Heck of a hood time.

It's starting to get cold up here (and hopefully stay cold). Nate loves being outside, he loves the wind, and when it's cold--he gets all weird outside. It's so funny. Maybe it's just because he's not used to the cold yet, but whenever the cold wind hits him his eyes get all crazy and he starts sticking his tongue out like a snake. It cracks me up. And he really likes his hood. Which is good because he is not a big fan of hats sometimes. Same with socks, he likes them one day and then he hates them. But we are completely moved in our new place, our 5th move! But luckily this one was just down the sidewalk in our same complex. I'll get everyone the new address soon. But yippy, one more week until we're in town! Cannot wait! I'm counting the days.

Little scootcher!

He starts out on his mat and just wiggles around the whole room. And he can roll over from tummy to back and back to tummy! But he just loves scooting around on the floor and talking to himself. He's figured out that he can be loud now. He'll squeal really loud and then just smile like he's the coolest thing. Of course I do think he is the coolest thing. :) Well, Thanksgiving will be here in a few weeks, so I will get to see everyone soon. And everyone will get to see Nate! Yay!

I'm not sure why I thought this was funny, but I did. I guess it's as funny to me as my dad thought it was funny to take pictures with diapers on our head.

Here are some pictures from when he was littler to now.

It's been awhile!

Hello all! Well, it's been quite some time since I've blogged. I'm going to try to start posting much more. Especially since Nate is here and I actually have something to blog about. It's not just Mufasa anymore. Well, Nate is going to be 4 months this Friday! Yippy! He's still the happiest little baby. His eyes are still blue. He rolls over from tummy to his back and grabs everything he can reach. He's working on rolling to his tummy, but he's having trouble getting over that lump of a belly. He talks a lot and loves music. Big fan of Queen, Ozzy and Miles Davis or whatever weird stuff I sing to him. He's gnawing and drooling all the time so maybe we'll get some teeth soon. He even tried to eat my nilla wafer right out of my hand the other day. Well, we will be down there for Thanksgiving so I can't wait to see everyone! Mitch is working hard AND going to school! Yay! And the baby and I play at the house all day. Life is good!

I just wanted to show you my pretty pansies that I planted and brought back to life. I wanted to make sure I could actually keep plants alive before I decided to invest in any thing nicer. I'm really proud of myself for remembering to water them. Now I have pretty flowers to enjoy when I'm on the back porch reading.

Also, I wanted to share this lovely picture. I walk into Walmart and to my delight see this 50+ man shopping in a cut off mesh shirt. It looked like a football practice jersey or something. I followed him for awhile so I could take a picture and even though he has that balding business in front--I was definitely enjoying the "party in the back." Hah, Ohio hasn't let me down on tacky Walmart shoppers.

Here's baby Nate! He was really wiggling during the ultrasound, she was having to chase him around. I'm just glad he has all the fat on his face now so he doesn't look like a creepy alien. Mitch says it looks like he will have my round nose and big lips. We'll soon see. :) But he's doing great, still on schedule. He's 5lb 11oz..that's what they said. He's right in the middle, not too big or small. So hopefully they are right. I'm getting very anxious, I'm so ready for him to be here. It is still really weird, he was just wiggling and opening and closing his mouth..I'm pretty sure it freaks me out as much as it amazes me. Mitch is kind of anxious, but he's never excited about anything until it happens. So we're just hanging out waiting on Nate to get here.

This is his little fat face.

Sorry guys, I know it's been awhile since I blogged. Well, really all we've been up to is getting ready for Nate to get here. I'm going through everything in the entire apartment to make sure it's all easy to find and space efficient. I finally went through all our bills and whatnot and organizing them all into my file box. And we've finally got everything together to put in our fireproof safe. I still need to put all our pictures on discs to put in there. I'm terrified of having someone catch our apartment building on fire and I lose all our pictures. I just really like being organized.
Mitch is still working a lot and we are still trying to get all of his schooling worked out. It's been a headache trying to get the right people on the phone and finding a program for him. I'm still hanging out at the house, getting things ready and baking a lot. I can't help it. Cookies, brownies, and cobbler..something different every week. Hopefully I won't have gained too much weight at my next appointment. :/ I was quite unsuccessful in my attempt to stop drinking sweet tea. I'm going to go ahead and blame my dad for that.
Well, we miss y'all and can't wait to see you this weekend!! Yay!

Another loss.

Well, we've finally figured out how to play Rummy correctly. And it's another game I suck at. I blew everyone away the first game we played, but that was obviously just beginners luck. Now Mitch just stomps all over me. And he wanted me to post the proof. :)

Something random for my random wall.

I found this big iron grate at the antique mall--only $19! They are usually from $50-$80 for this size and condition so I snatched this one up. Didn't have any plans for it, but as it has sat in my living room for a week, I figured it would look nice in that random corner of mine. But Danny, that doesn't mean don't buy us a huge statue of a naked woman if you come across one. We're still looking. But I think Mitch was just happy I've done a good job at using all the random things I keep coming home with. I still have a huge box of old Player Piano music scrolls I bought a year ago and haven't done anything with them. Oh well, they were $5 for all of them. Oh and also--this is my first attempt at cooking a pork tenderloin. It came out pretty good if I say so myself. Well, miss you guys and can't wait for y'all to come visit us!

Truffles.

This is my first attempt to make those delicious Oreo truffles Paige makes. I know they are supposed to be an easy dessert to make, I mean it's only Oreos, cream cheese, and white chocolate! But my goodness, they are a pain in the butt. And mine are terribly ugly. I guess it's just one of those things I'll get better the more I make them. I made a huge mess with Oreo crumbs and melted white chocolate all over the place. Oh well, they do taste great so I guess it all worked out. I just wish y'all could have watched me trying to make them, it was funny.

Baseball!

Hello guys! Mitch and I went to our first baseball game of the season. Summer is almost here! But the Reds Stadium is very pretty, it's right off the river and the area it's in is really clean. It was a nice day at the ballpark. There were fireworks at the end and a live band which was terrible. They butchered everything from Journey to Van Halen. :( My only other complaint it that they don't have funnel cakes, they have funnel cake fries..It's a nice concept for convenience, but I like the big messy funnel cakes. Oh and Mitch and I are playing a lot of card games, or atleast trying. Apparently all I know how to play is Go Fish and Crazy 8's. So we're working on Rummy and Spades. And I'm really really glad I'm not a poor loser, because I suck at games. I've lost everything we've played. Yahtzee, Skip-Bo, even Risk! Mark beat us all in Risk and I was the only one who had ever really played it. All those strategy lessons from Grandad and I still lost. It's terrible. But I am so excited to come visit! Yay, I'll be there Thursday! :) Well, love you guys! See ya soon!

Breakfast time!

Mitch is truly a wonderful husband! Our new thing is to get up and make breakfast together--and I'm talking a legit breakfast! Mitch has decided that since we'll have kids soon, we really need to get our "Saturday Morning" breakfast perfected. So now he has bacon, eggs over medium, scrambled, biscuits, and cinnamon toast ready for whatever our kids' hearts desire. He does it all, I just made the toast. It's fun and surprisingly we work well in the kitchen together! Yay! So just thought y'all would love to see my chef of a husband!

Hi.

Hello, I guess it's update time. Mitch and I have just been hanging around just like an old married couple. We play a few games of Skip Bo before we go to bed, and we play it nicely. No taunting or cheating involved. Haha Also I'm still working on my wall, this is as far as I've gotten. Oh and of course Mitch and I are getting things ready for the baby. We've registered and toured the hospital. We're really excited about the hospital, it's small but nice. The staff are mostly nurses that have been there for 20+ years. So it's not like a bunch of new nurses or students. We felt very comfortable there. We've also scheduled our birthing class and another tour so we can go ahead and pre-register and get a lot of the paperwork started. Mitch and I are super excited about the baby shower and I can't wait to see everyone. The only other baby thing we've bought is a pair of overalls. They are a cute reminder of what's coming. The cribfinallyfeels like it's supposed to be here. Oh and I found some awesome Dr. Seuss books at the antique store. It's a collection of 12 different stories and they were only $9! Those books are expensive. We also bought Beauty and the Beast on DVD, trying to get the essential Disney movies for Nate. We're so excited about Nate--and I'm getting impatient. I want him here so bad. First, because I can't wait to meet him and be a mom--and second, because he does this like quick two step in my belly which feels really weird or he pushes and stretches and I loose my breath. So we're just really ready for him to get here! I'm sure once he's here I'll be wishing I still had a few months to get ready, but oh well. I'm just excited to see Mitch and I as parents. I know he'll be a wonderful daddy. And he'll have his new little buddy to hang out with and eventually teach him to play baseball and all sorts of things. Ahh, I just can't wait. Well, we love you guys and miss you bunches!

Some more decorating.

Because I love my husband, I decorated our bathroom in Alabama. It'll be awhile before he gets his "man cave." So at least he has a spot to express his love of the Crimson Tide. Also, I have this wall I've been staring at for some time now. I'm sure there was something normal I could have hung on it, but I got bored. So I just started to paint on it. Not sure what it's going to turn out to look like, but I'm working on it. Again, Mitch likes it because it makes me so happy to be able to color on our walls. He's so sweet to me. I have a feeling it's going to take awhile to finish because being so close to the wall concentrating on a bunch of swirls tend to make you dizzy. :)

Update.

Hello! Well, I finally got a rocking chair! It was the one Brandy used for Mitch and Cody. I'm super excited about getting everything together. It's a bit of a squeeze to get it all in the "baby's room," but it all fits. Now I just need to figure out what to put on the walls above Baby Nate's crib. Also, I finally picked out some colors for our bed. Mitch is okay with the purple sheets, because they make me so happy. And now I just need to paint something to go above our bed. Then everything will be finished in the bedroom. I can't wait. I'm still so excited about having the house decorated and ready to welcome the baby home.

I'm a BOY!

Yay! Mitch and I got what we wanted! We were so excited to see our little baby boy spread eagle and wiggling around. He's healthy and very active! The doctor said he was very photogenic, just like his parents! :) He's 10 oz and has all the correct organs and bones in all the correct places. Oh and he also has a wonderful aortic artery. So apparently all is perfect. We're still trying to come up with names. Even though we know it's a boy, we're nowhere closer on finding a name. So baby Uno will probably have a few more months of a nameless existence. Well, I'm excited to see everyone and I should be there Monday night! Love you guys!

Mitch's new toy.

My living room has turned into a basketball court. Mitch, Cody and Mufasa are definitely putting the NBA to shame. Mufasa is a right little Air Bud. It's hilarious.

Baby Crib

Yes! :) We now have a crib and we're ready to rock and roll! It was hilarious getting it home. I went around the back to pick it up in my tiny car and this big black guy tried everything to get it to fit. I was trying to help, but he wouldn't let me even push the box because I'm pregnant. So he said they could hold it until I had someone with a truck come pick it up, but I wanted it home that night. I asked if they had some rope, he said yep--so I told him to throw it on top and I'll tie it down. He looks at me like I'm crazy, but throws it up there. Well, due to liability he isn't allowed to help me tie it down. So even though he wouldn't let me touch the box due to my pregnancy--he stands there for the next 30 minutes watching me jump on and off my car in the freezing cold tying down the box with the 5 pieces of string he gave me. I am so thankful for my dad being who he is because I am completely capable of tying something down with limited resources. The man was afraid to let me drive off, so I put on a heavy Southern accent and told him it's just like tying down a kayak and not to worry. He didn't look like he knew what a kayak was, but he let me go. Haha. Of course I got home with no problem. Mitch got home and we went to work. It was very easy to put together, but Mufasa didn't seem to keen about it. He kept laying under it and getting in the way while we were trying to put it together. Oh well, he'll have to get used to it. I love the crib, it's dark brown and simple. We didn't want one of the big decorative ones. But I tell you, the crib sure has a presence. I was trying to read in the room, and I swear the crib was just staring at me! It just has this look that says "I'm going to change your life forever and you've only got the next 5 months to get ready for it, haha!" I just sat there and stared back at it. It's weird. I mean it just looks almost harmless right now, but in a few months--that crib is going to be holding a future voter. It's truly a wonderful, but terrifying thought.
